①「～年代に」は、in the＋年代sとなります。as＋形容詞 / 副詞＋as～で「～もの」という意味です。most of them childrenは独立分詞構文であり、most of them being childrenのbeingが省略されています。このように、分詞がbeingの場合は省略されることがあります。some of them under tenもbeingが省略されています。
②「単調な」はmonotonousです。
